The “I” That Knows Before the Mind Does

There is an “I” within us that is not the personality, nor the reactive mind, nor the wounded child.
It is neither the role of wife, mother, healer or partner.
It is the I that exists before identity.
The I that witnesses, that feels energy before it becomes language and that contracts before the mind understands why.
The ‘I’ I have come to know intimately, does not shout, does not accuse and does not create drama.
‘She’ simply shifts.
A subtle contraction in the chest.
A slight fog in the mind.
A soft pulling back of the body.
And when I was not trained to listen, I overrode her.
I used to say: “It’s nothing.” “It’s a good person.” “I’m overreacting.” “I must be dysregulated.”
Now I know that the Divine I existing within does not operate from narrative. She operates from coherence.
She feels when energy changes, when attunement drops, when presence turns into defensiveness and when a moment loses its gentleness.
And she does not need proof. She is proof.
This I exists in all of us. In women, in men, in every soul walking this earth. It is the part of us that is aligned with truth before the ego, inherited beliefs and conditioning rearranged it.
When I feel unstable, confused, or out of focus, I now pause, I do not rush to blame, I do not rush to self-attack. I ask: What did the I feel?
Because instability is often not weakness. It is dissonance. It is the soul trying to reconcile two frequencies: the love that is present and the moment that felt misaligned.
Both can be true, a person can be generous, supportive, kind, strong. Yet, a moment can land in a way that shakes the field.
My I does not measure goodness like a ledger. She measures resonance. She opens in safety. She expands in emotional integrity. She softens in attuned leadership. When that attunement wavers, she does not become hysterical. She retracts. Not as punishment but as preservation. This subtle preservation is sacred.

Over the past few years, my work has not been about empowering women to voice their truth. It has been about teaching women to hear this I again.
I supported them to regulate their nervous system enough to discern:
Is this fear? Or is this wisdom?
Is this trauma? Or is this truth?
Because when a woman disconnects from the Divine I within her, she becomes negotiable.
When she reconnects, she becomes sovereign.
My recent platform vulvA co-created with my two wonderful business and coaching partners, Alisa Millard and Cory Schmidt, was born from this remembrance.
A space where women and men can return to the center that cannot be destabilized.
Where we learn to hold nuance, to love without abandoning ourselves, to require alignment without aggression, to rise in frequency through awareness and not reaction.
The Divine I does not destroy relationships, she refines them.
And when we anchor in her, we no longer collapse into confusion, we become luminous and luminosity changes everything.
